This Halloween, London welcomed a brand-new gothic-themed event, thanks to national children’s charity, Caudwell Children.
Sponsored by the pioneering sustainable rum company, V Rum, The Moth Ball was a bewitching twist on the charity’s renowned Butterfly Ball and was an exciting new addition to Caudwell Children’s calendar, where an astounding £76,160 was donated to support disabled and autistic children.
Taking place at 8 Northumberland Avenue near Trafalgar square, guests entered a world of mystery and magic, filled with immersive entertainment provided by Elan Artists and life-changing philanthropy.
Will Pepper, Head of Events at Caudwell Children said “Halloween events can often be aimed at younger audiences and rely on cliched theming, or they use shock and surprise for the horror movie fans; we wanted to infuse the glamour of our Butterfly Ball with something very moody, atmospheric and exciting.
It was amazing to see The Moth Ball come to life; it was the perfect opportunity for people who enjoy the excitement of Halloween but still wanted the sophistication of The Butterfly Ball.”
During the event Charlie Beswick author of Altered Life and advocate for Caudwell Children, shared her personal experiences and why she supports Caudwell Children and the vital work they do.
Caudwell Children is dedicated to creating a more inclusive world for disabled and autistic children, advocating for policy change, and challenging the stigma surrounding disability. Their wide range of practical and emotional support services cater to children and young people aged 0 – 24, including comprehensive autism assessments delivered by their in-house multi-disciplinary clinical team.
Philanthropists and celebrity guests were among the guests, including Bradley Riches from the popular Netflix series Heartstopper, Chaser Jenny Ryan, and visionary floral artist and event designer Amie Bone.
Also in attendance were Caudwell Children beneficiaries Dylan Kelsall, aged 22 who was provided with funding towards a life-changing powered wheelchair, Sebbie Hall, aged 21, who attended Short Break sessions and Jack Cleere, aged 20, who received funding towards life-changing SDR surgery in the United States back in 2010.
Dylan expressed his appreciation “Caudwell Children means everything to me; they give people the opportunity to unlock their potential and not every charity does this.”
Sebbie said “I was a Caudwell Children child, they helped me, my mum and dad. John Caudwell is my hero because he’s kind. I sponsored a family at Caudwell Children because they supported me at Short Breaks.”
Guests also took part in the charity’s Live Auction which offered luxury experiences and original one-of-a-kind art pieces. The auction was led by former Olympic and motivational speaker, Derek Redmond.
Caudwell Children also secured donations through their “Shaping Futures” employability and Caudwell Youth’s combined pledge, autism pledge and Short Breaks pledge, ensuring the charity can provide even more children with vital practical resources and emotional support. These funds will significantly enhance the charity’s ability to make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need.
