London Councils has unveiled three MPs as its new Parliamentary Vice-Presidents, strengthening links between the cross-party group and London parliamentarians.
At London Councils’ recent annual general meeting the Parliamentary Vice-Presidents were confirmed as:
Rachel Blake, Labour MP for Cities of London and Westminster
David Simmonds, Conservative MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner
Munira Wilson, Liberal Democrat MP for Twickenham
The Parliamentary Vice-President role has been established to build closer bonds with MPs and to help champion London local government’s voice in Westminster.
London Councils seeks to influence the national political agenda on behalf of its member boroughs, such as through briefing MPs and shaping legislation that could affect London local government. Current priorities include securing more devolved powers and ensuring the financial sustainability of town halls in the capital.
