Even though the cryptocurrency market has seen a steep decline over the last few months, the metaverse continues to flourish, attracting the interest of people who want to find a virtual land where everyone can have an unique and exciting experience beyond the limits of the real world.
The Metaverse Continues to Flourish
Tony Hawk, the renowned American Pro skateboarder who successfully helped the sport of skateboarding enter mainstream, has recently announced a new partnership with The Sandbox, a blockchain-based virtual gaming world. Hawk, together with The Sandbox are working on building the biggest virtual skatepark the world has ever seen. Sandbox has built quite a reputation with a variety of high-end partnerships, Tony Hawk, being its latest
According to reports, Hawk’s virtual skatepark or rather, metaverse, will consist of a market place to buy and sell skateboards and accessories, while giving users the unique opportunity to create their ideal skatepark, through editing tools accessible on the platform.
The Sandbox has reported that the metaverse called “Tony Hawk LAND”, will include 36 plots of land, which is why it is dubbed as the biggest skatepark on the metaverse and in the world. The idea is to create the skatepark of the user’s dreams and give the user the creative freedom to customize their skatepark as much as possible.
Hawk is known for his successful and innovative concepts. His “Tony Hawk Pro Skater” game series grossed over $1.4 billion.
Tony Hawk and NFTs
The NFT solution platform Autograph is planning to create NFTs and avatars that are based on Hawk, as well as his most popular accessories, clothing and skateboards, for example, the board he used at the 1999 X Games, where he famously landed the 900 turn. It was crowned the timeless achievement of the skateboarding world.
The co-founder and CEO at Autograph has expressed his excitement to work with both Tony Hawk and The Sandbox to build a virtual world, where users can have a fully-immersive experience.
Do Partnerships Like This Have Any Effect on the Cryptocurrency World?
Some market experts predict that cryptocurrency will eventually crash and burn, while others see it as the fuel that powers the metaverse economy.
The metaverse and cryptocurrency are two different concepts that are able to co-exist. However, tokens may be useful in both the real world and the virtual world, but the concepts must work well together. According to Bitindex AI developers, “crypto could be used as an advantage in the metaverse, especially when used as a mode of payment”. This is a valid point when considering that metaverse projects are in need of a payment gateway to buying virtual assets within the virtual world. This is usually done through the use of tokens.
It seems that an overwhelming majority of experts are of the opinion that the cryptocurrency market and metaverse benefit from working together, rather than two separate entities.
Tony Hawk’s Partnership with The Sandbox means that the biggest, virtual skatepark the world has ever seen will be Ethereum-based. Hawk said in a video. “So I am fascinated by the metaverse, and excited to bring our culture into the virtual landscape of The Sandbox”. For the skateboarding community this unique and exciting digital world is a world of opportunity and creativity.
