CUSTOMERS and their families were entertained by the team at Specsavers Putney who dressed up in Halloween costumes in support of the Positively Putney Business Improvement District (BID) ‘Trick or Treat Trail’ around the town.

Businesses taking part in the fun displayed a poster highlighting to youngsters they were welcome to visit the store and collect some goodies. The BID team also organised face painting and balloon modelling outside the Putney Arts Theatre.

As a member of the BID, Valpreet Chana, Specsavers Putney optometrist director, says: ‘It was a great opportunity to celebrate Halloween with our team and customers. We chatted to them about eye care and the importance of having a sight test for them and their children.

‘We also highlighted the dangers of wearing novelty contact lenses, as many of them don’t conform to the required manufacturing standards, and can cause damage to the eyes.

‘We had a great day and fun afternoon, with the children coming in for their Trick or Treat goodies. It was a lovely way to support the community activity in Putney.’

Nicola Grant, Executive Director, Positively Putney adds: ‘We’re delighted that so many businesses have signed up to support our ‘Trick or Treat Trail’ around town. We value their support and are delighted that the team at Specsavers Putney have really embraced Halloween this year.’

For the first time there was a Pop-Up Pumpkin patch in Church Square where the children could choose a pumpkin, and either take it home to carve up or do it on site.

The finale to the afternoon’s event was a Spectacular Spooky Halloween Pyro & Fire Show, which hadn’t been seen since the Platinum Jubilee.
