TV’S MOST ICONIC VOICE TURNS BINGO CALLER FOR A NIGHT

Peter Dickson, the TV voiceover legend behind the Britain’s Got Talent live finals, surprised players at Mecca Bingo earlier this week by replacing their regular caller for a very special Britain’s Got Talent-themed game. Peter, whose booming voice is one of TV’s most recognisable, delighted customers when he unexpectedly took to the mike and stepped up to the bingo calling podium. After the session, he went on to introduce contestants in the initial heat of the Mecca Bingo’s Got Talent contest.

Peter’s appearance celebrated Mecca Bingo becoming the official bingo partner of TV show Britain’s Got Talent. Peter gave players a shock at Mecca’s Dagenham club, as he took to the podium, engaging regulars as he prepared to call the numbers in the BGT-themed game. After his bingo calling initiation, the crowd were so impressed with Peter’s newfound bingo-calling skills that they cheered him on to host another game.

Later in the evening, Peter introduced some show stopping acts to the stage as part of Mecca’s own search for a star, Mecca Bingo’s Got Talent. Singers Jay Warn, Michaela Thomas and James Hudson took part in the regional heat of the national talent contest, with Jay and Michaela crowned joint winners. The pair will go on to battle it out again in the quarter finals in the hope of getting one step closer to winning £5,000, tickets to the Britain’s Got Talent final, a six date paid tour of Mecca Bingo venues and an introduction to a top talent agent. The finals will be held at a star-studded event at Mecca’s new Luton club on Saturday 21 May.

Peter Dickson commented on his appearance: “It was really exciting to step out of the sound booth and into the bingo hall to surprise Mecca customers for their Britain’s Got Talent game – calling the numbers is harder than it looks! I loved seeing the faces around the room after my classic ‘ladies and gentlemen’ introduction – that was the moment where everybody recognised my voice from the telly!”

To celebrate the partnership with Britain’s Got Talent, Mecca Bingo has introduced BGT-themed games online and across its club and a Britain’s Got Talent exclusive bingo room on Meccabingo.com. Mecca venues across the country are also offering themed food and drink to encourage everyone to join in the fun, including the BG&T menu deal.

Peter Houston, operations manager at Mecca Bingo Dagenham, added: “Here at Mecca, we’re all about bringing the fun, and it was great to see our customers’ faces when they realised that our usual caller had been replaced by none other than telly’s most famous voice. Bingo calling is quite an art, and who better to take on the challenge than the legendary Peter Dickson! The surprise was a lovely way of celebrating our partnership with Britain’s Got Talent – with our range of BGT-themed competitions, games, food and drinks, we’ve got something for every customer to enjoy.”
