Every Christmas, millions of National Health Service (NHS) and Health and Social Care (HSC) workers across the country forgo time with their loved ones to care for the nation. For the ninth consecutive year, Uber is saying thank you by offering discounted Uber rides and Uber Eats orders to those working on Christmas Day.
This year, Uber will help NHS and HSC staff get to and from work safely on Christmas Day with £10 off two Uber rides, as well as a £10 Uber Eats discount to enjoy a meal or grocery delivery — a small gesture to brighten the day for those spending it caring for others.
This ninth year of festive thanks is just one way Uber is supporting the NHS. Beyond Christmas, Uber Health is helping hospitals, trusts and clinics connect patients and staff with safe, dependable transport — easing pressure on stretched services, improving experiences across the care journey, and helping reduce operational strain.
Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK, said, “We are all indebted to the incredible NHS and HSC workers who selflessly care for the nation over the festive season. At Uber, we’re proud to support the NHS, whether it’s through essential patient and staff travel provided year-round by Uber Health, or by giving discounted rides to the wonderful people who keep the service going on Christmas Day.”
This initiative is simply our way of expressing how immensely grateful we are for the vital work of the healthcare sector both at Christmas and throughout the year.”
Helen Garnett, a paediatric intensive care nurse for the NHS says: “Getting home from a shift at the hospital is always more difficult on Christmas Day. It’s nice to know that Uber is gifting us some much-needed time to put our feet up and enjoy a delicious meal.”
Since launching the annual NHS Christmas campaign in 2017, Uber has supported NHS workers, recognising the unique challenges they face during the holiday to access reliable transport and a hearty meal during their busy shifts.

This year’s initiative builds on Uber’s long-standing support for the NHS. Since launching Uber Medics in 2020, which provided more than 3 million discounted trips for healthcare workers during the pandemic, Uber has continued to help NHS staff get where they’re needed most. In 2021, the company supported the vaccination rollout with free trips to and from vaccination hubs across the UK. Uber Health works with NHS trusts year-round by helping patients get the medical care they need with seamless non-emergency medical transportation.
