Oxford Street was brought to a STANDSTILL over Black Friday weekend, as UK rap legend Giggs surprised fans with a LIVE performance.

The Peckham-born artist, known for hits including “Incredible Sauce” and “Peligro” turned up outside John Lewis on Sunday 30th November in a CRAFTD-branded taxi to bring some much-needed vibes and energy to weary shoppers battling the Black Friday sales.

Giggs was quickly swarmed by hundreds of fans wanting to get into the taxi for a once-in-lifetime intimate performance with the star.

Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year, and this year saw hundreds of thousands of Brits pound the pavements of Oxford Street to bag the best deals in the lead up to Christmas.

But the best deal of all on Sunday, was Giggs performing his signature tracks in the back of a decked out taxi. Giggs’ fans took to social media to share the experience, with videos posted across Instagram racking up hundreds of likes and comments.

One fan bagged a taxi ride with Giggs and gushed: “Wow. Wow. Just chatted to Giggs casually. I don’t know what I’m even talking about, it feels like a dream. You know when you wake up and you’re like wow. Crazy.”

Whilst others took to social media to comment on Oxford Street being brought to a standstill:

User Stephkurke posted a video to TikTok warning “whatever you do, don’t go to Oxford Circus today”

One user commented; “I saw Giggs doing a performance outside John Lewis and MY GOD the whole place was at standstill, I had to cross over the road because there was no chance I was getting through that without a fight.”

And user Gaastlygab added: “I’m pretty sure I would have had a better chance fighting in the trenches during WW1” [than Oxford Circus on Sunday]

Winsome Yuen commented; “The crowds were ridiculous and they decided out of all weekends to do a bunch of maintenance work on the various lines. I ended up walking for 40 minutes instead as the crowds kept getting bigger.”

And Keely said: “As someone who has been to London close to 50 times I’d say I’m pretty well versed in knowing when and where is good / what times are best to leave etc. but oh my god! That was the worst I’ve ever seen it”

According to a post on Giggs’ social media it was revealed the impromptu gig with Giggs was to celebrate the launch of the new CRAFTD Melted collection, a luxury men’s jewellery brand Giggs is a huge fan of.

Reacting to the performance on social media, Founder and Creative Director at CRAFTD, Alex Cannon, said;

“As if Oxford Circus wasn’t chaotic enough in the run up to Christmas – we thought we’d drop rap royalty, Giggs, into the heart of the action for a series of impromptu performances that brought the place to an actual standstill.

Cannon added:

“Giggs is a legend in the game and seeing him in the new collection was a proud moment.”

The new Melted Collection will see precious stones hand-set within molten bezels, allowing light to move through and reveal their deepest colours and will be on sale from today on CRAFTD.

Giggs is a fan favourite and part of a wider celebrity collective of names like Zayn Malik, Lando Norris, Rio Ferdinand and Steven Bartlett who are huge lovers of the brand.
