UK-startup Global Airlines disable Instagram comments as speculation on future grows
UK-startup Global Airlines has been disabling Instagram comments on recent post as speculation on their future grows.
Aviation experts and social media commentators have been speculating that Global could be planning to move from scheduled flights to ACMI charters after a disastrous set of inaugural flights.
The last official statement issued via Global’s LinkedIn month’s ago read “Our first flight was a bit of a challenge – now, this one is true! It really was. Can you imagine bringing back an A380 from the desert, getting it through the most enormous amount of maintenance and regulatory requirements, dealing with a huge cabin overhaul, preparing for the first passengers, managing the catering and crew training, (and a million other things), and everything being perfect?”
The start-up which is the brainchild of James Asquith, was hoping to take passengers back to the Golden Age of Travel however their only A380, 9H-GLOBL is now parked up at Dresden with no clear indication of when it will next take to the skies.
Aviation expert Pauline Kariuka told us “I am not surprised that they are doing damage limitation and disabling comments, tickets were not sold for the inaugural flight until less then a month before departure, there was hardly and publicity surrounding the inaugural flight”
She added “the tickets in question were not sold on Global’s official website but on a 3rd party site, leading to horrible reviews about those inaugural flights from influencers and paying passengers alike.”
