University of West London caters for global esports popularity with two new degrees

With the esports global market’s value projected to rise to over $5.7 billion by 2030 (Statista), University of West London (UWL) aims to unlock the potential of future player and event management professionals with two new career-focused degrees. BSc Esports Management with Event Production and a FDSc Coaching for Eplayers are set to launch in September 2024.

Run by UWL’s prestigious London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism (LGCHT), Esports Management with Event Production is an innovative course which will cover areas including esports regulatory matters, managing spectator experiences; risk management and ethical considerations; digital marketing and promotion and event production.

The two-year Coaching for Eplayers foundation degree will focus on advanced coaching techniques; nutrition and holistic wellbeing; esports team dynamics and cognitive skills.

As the careers University, UWL has developed the courses with lecturers that have extensive industry experience across events, gaming, sports psychology, hospitality, and leisure.

Modules for the new degrees will be taught at UWL’s recently opened Digital Futures Lab which is equipped with the latest Macs and PCs running cutting-edge software.

Announcing the new courses, James Edmunds, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor, and Dean at UWL’s LGCHT said:
