Aadesh Deshmukh, a University of West London (UWL) graduate, has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious international ScoreLive Main Title competition. Aadesh graduated last summer with a MMus Composition for Film and TV from the London College of Music (LCM) at UWL.
For the ScoreLive Main Title competition, composers were asked to write an original main title track with strong synchronisation potential and a memorable theme.
Aadesh says:
“I approached it as a valuable addition to my portfolio rather than just a competition entry. To challenge myself, I worked under timed sessions, creating three different 2–3-minute tracks, each developed over four to five hours. I ultimately submitted the piece that felt most suitable for a live orchestral recording. I really enjoyed the process, as it pushed me to work decisively while staying focused on musical clarity and impact.
As a finalist Aadesh has been awarded a scholarship place on the GEMS Summer Film Scoring Programme in Valencia, Spain featuring a professional live orchestral recording of his music.
He says:
“Being selected as a finalist is incredibly rewarding and gives me strong confidence in my work as a film composer.”
Aadesh says that the MMus course played an important role in this achievement, particularly through the guidance he received from Jan Willem de With, Dr Bartosz Szafranski, and Dr Simone Spagnolo across orchestration, arrangement, composition, production, and score preparation.
Since graduating, he has been working on an independent film and smaller projects, while actively seeking assistantship roles.
Dr Spagnolo, Head of Composition at LCM, commented,
“We are incredibly happy about Aadesh’s outstanding achievement. He is a talented composer, and I am sure this award will provide an excellent platform for his future career. It is wonderful to see yet another international success from one of our composers!”
