Veolia, in partnership with Croydon Council, played their part in the post-parade clean-up in Crystal Palace last bank holiday Monday. As part of the ongoing celebrations for Crystal Palace fans, a victory parade and celebration took place along Whitehorse Lane, next to Selhurst Park stadium. Thousands of fans took to the streets in celebration of winning their first major trophy in the club’s history.

Veolia’s dedicated street cleansing teams worked hard before and after the parade to ensure fans could fully enjoy the procession route and so that residents and businesses could return to their normal routines on Tuesday morning. During the event, litter bags were strategically placed along the route which allowed the fantastic fans to easily dispose of their rubbish.

Following the celebrations, the cleaning operation began with manual sweeping teams clearing litter from the roadsides, followed by a thorough second clean by mechanical sweepers, with 3.5 tonnes cleared in total.

Scott Edgell, Divisional Head of Municipal Operations at Veolia Croydon said: “Beyond our routine delivery of essential street cleansing services, we were honoured to support such a special event. We consider ourselves to be part of the communities we serve and understand how important this parade was for the fans. I’m happy that we played our part in ensuring the victory parade was a success for everyone involved.”

Executive Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry, said: “It was amazing seeing the FA Cup being paraded in Croydon, a sight many of us Crystal Palace fans never thought would happen.

“Events like this require a lot of planning with many people behind the scenes working long hours to make sure it was such a memorable day. Thank you to all the Council officers, Veolia, emergency services and all other partners who helped make this dream come true.”
