wagamama is calling time on bland kids’ meals, teaming up with TV personality and mum Kate Lawler to make mealtimes more exciting and flavour-packed. To shake up kids’ menus across the UK, wagamama is launching its new bento box, designed for the NOPE generation (No-touch Picky Eaters). Kids can personalise their meals with over 1,000 combinations, giving them the freedom to explore bold flavours, create a meal they love and turn mealtime into an interactive experience that caters to even the fussiest eaters.
The bento box, available for children under 12 and priced at £7.50, lets kids build their own meal using separate compartments to choose a main, rice or noodles, fresh vegetables and a delicious sauce. Served with gyoza and prawn crackers, it offers kids a customisable experience that encourages them to discover new flavours, beyond the usual kids’ menu options on offer.
Kate Lawler says, “As a parent, I know how tricky it can be to get kids to eat a balanced meal, especially when they’re fussy. The wagamama bento box lets my daughter, Noa, pick exactly what she wants while still trying new flavours. It’s brilliant to see a menu that really listens to families and puts choice at the centre.”
Dr. Anna Colton, author* and clinical psychologist specialising in child eating behaviours, adds, “When children can explore new foods at their own pace, they feel safe and in control, allowing them to be curious and try new food outside their usual repertoire. This gentle exposure is one of the best ways to help them expand what they eat. And when kids are given choice and independence around food, mealtimes become calmer and more enjoyable for everyone.”
The bento box allows kids to enjoy their wagamama favourites, so mealtime is fun and personalised. This launch continues wagamama’s commitment to innovation and customisation, ensuring there’s something for every family at its benches.
wagamama’s Chief Marketing + Commercial Officer, Emma Colquhoun, added, “We asked families what they wanted from a kids’ meal and the answer was clear. More choice and flexibility. Too often, kids’ menus can feel limited, so we wanted to create something that works for both children and parents. Our new bento box balances variety, flavour and nutrition, giving children meals they enjoy and parents’ peace of mind.”
Other highlights on the new menu include refreshed bao buns and nourishing new mains inspired by guest favourites. For more information, visit: www.wagamama.com/kids-and-families
