Waitrose Coulsdon has opened the doors of its Brighton Road store following a multi-million pound refurbishment designed to deliver the very best experience for customers.

The transformation brings a host of new features and improvements to the branch, which will celebrate its 54th anniversary next week (opened 25th October 1971). Relaunching at 9am on Friday 17th October, Waitrose Coulsdon is primed and ready to greet customers with everything from fresh produce and the best quality meat, fish and cheese to dinner from food lovers’ favourite – Waitrose No. 1, as well as desserts and beer, wine and spirits.

Branch Manager, John Hickton, who leads a team of 58 Partners at the shop, said: “Just in time to celebrate our 54th anniversary, it is my great pleasure to welcome customers to the new and improved Waitrose Coulsdon. Thank you to the team behind the transformation. We’re ready with even more of the very best food and drink plus the great service Waitrose is famous for.”
Highlights of the multi-million pound investment include:

Refreshed Fruit & Vegetables Section: better selection of fresh produce.
Increased Spirits Selection: as well as a refreshed Beer & Lager offer, including low and alcohol free options.
Expanded Food to Go: more sandwiches and lunchtime choices.
Dedicated John Lewis Click and Collect Desk: for faster collections and returns.
New Refrigeration: replaced for improved energy efficiency.
Self Service Tills as well as staffed checkout: to provide greater choice.
Improved Car Parking: more car parking spaces available.

Local customers are able to pick up John Lewis, Waitrose Entertaining and Waitrose Cellar orders in store, as well as order home delivery from the shop using Deliveroo, Just Eat and UberEats.

The first shoppers through the doors will be greeted with the gift of a free tote bag for their groceries.

Nationwide Investment:
Waitrose is investing in every shop nationwide, from refurbishments to new openings. The £1 billion, multi-year programme is designed to offer the very best products, service and shops for customers.

In the past month, Waitrose has opened two brand new Little Waitrose shops – at The Arches, Bristol and Wandsworth New Acres – with a multitude of store transformations still to come.

The retailer has also announced a new 360,000 sq ft distribution centre at Mountpark’s Bristol 360 which will deliver to around 50 current Waitrose shops, with the capacity to accommodate more. In addition, in 2027, Waitrose’s first new full-line supermarket for seven years will open at Brabazon, an award-winning new town in Bristol. The 30,000 sq ft store will create around 150 new jobs.
