It just wouldn’t be the festive season in SW18 without Wandsworth Town Christmas Festival.
The full day of family fun returns to the heart of Wandsworth on Saturday 6 December for the Christmas light switch-on, and so much more.
Locals and visitors are invited to shop unique gifts and chow down on delicious food at the festive market in Wandsworth’s Ram Quarter. But it’s not just the grown-ups who get all the fun. Little ones will have the chance to get up close to some adorable animals at the mobile city farm. There will also be a wide selection of games available to play for those with a competitive spirit, including giant chess, shuffleboard, curling, and more.
Over at Southside Shopping Centre there’ll be live entertainment on the Piazza from Riverside Radio, who will be broadcasting from the Christmas Festival with performances from local artists, musicians, and schools.
There’s plenty of Christmas magic to be found inside the shopping centre, too. Southside’s Festive Grotto is back, and little ones are invited to meet Santa Claus and tell him what they’d like for Christmas this year. Peace, goodwill to all mankind, and a Labubu.
But watch out! That pesky Grinch has been spotted at Southside getting up to mischief. And we hear a life-size polar bear can also be found on the ground floor.
Things are getting crafty over at Wandsworth Town Library, too. Children are invited to get creative with arts and crafts and Lego from 10am to 12pm in the Children’s Library. Adults can take part in the Festive Embroidery Café from 1pm to 3pm, all levels welcome. The library is also running an all-day quiz for people to drop in and have a go at.
Make sure you’re at Riverside’s stage on Southside’s Piazza from 4:30pm for the raffle prize draw and for the big Christmas light switch-on at 5pm.
Wandsworth Town Christmas Festival is delivered by Wandsworth Town Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Southside Wandsworth and Ram Quarter. The event is sponsored Wandsworth Mills, Sambrook’s Brewery, and Wandsworth Council.
James Mbanefo, Executive Director of Wandsworth Town BID, said: “The Christmas Festival has become a local staple in our community, so it’s an honour for us to be able to bring it to town each year and spread some festive joy.
“It’s great to see locals and visitors experiencing everything that Wandsworth Town has to offer. It’s a great boom for local businesses, too, and we feel there really is something for everyone here.”
Shannon Reed, Centre Director at Southside, added: “Christmas is always a fun time of year, so we wanted to Southside to match that energy. As well as the festive activities we have coming up for Christmas, we also have some new additions to the centre, including Rituals, the home of luxurious bath and body products, as well as home furnishings store Dunelm.”
