A new Christmas market is landing in Wandsworth on 30 November. Locals are in for some festive fervour, with almost 50 stalls sharing high-quality, handmade and sustainable arts, fashion and crafts.
Ram Quarter, Greenland’s redevelopment of the former Young’s brewery, will host the festivities, which form part of the wider Wandsworth Town Christmas Festival.
Several hot food stalls will provide visitors with a range of winter warmers. For those wanting to get involved in crafting, stallholders will be running workshops throughout the day, with a special focus on children, offering face-painting (glitter), arts and crafts, and making Christmas badges. The stallholders will also offer a range of items including jewellery, fashion, art, accessories, soaps and candles.
As well as bringing almost 50 stalls to Ram Quarter, the market will have plenty to keep the whole family entertained. Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be onsite to greet children from 2pm to 3.30pm, and there’ll be other activities from carousels to teacup rides, bumper cars and bungee trampolines for children looking for some holiday excitement.
The market will run between 10.30am and 4.30pm in Bubbling Well Square, at the heart of Ram Quarter. The market brings more than just festive spirit – it supports local talent and female entrepreneurs. Managing the Christmas market this year is Go Inspire, a London-based organiser focused on empowering women to build economic independence. The group has experience managing markets across London, from Wimbledon to Tooting.
Taotao Song, Chief Executive Officer of Greenland UK, said: “This year’s Christmas market will be the perfect way to begin the season of giving, with a wide range of hand-crafted, sustainable gifts. There will be something for everyone, with food and drink to warm the winter chill. We’re looking forward to hosting Go Inspire – a real sense of community has built around its markets. Community is what always makes Ram Quarter so special, so it’s a perfect fit.”
Ram Quarter is the stunning redevelopment of the former Young’s Brewery on the banks of the River Wandle. Greenland’s multiple award-winning development boasts a wide range of independent leisure and commercial tenants – you can as easily spend an evening axe-throwing as you can dining in style. Ram Quarter is the longest continuously-brewing site in the UK, now home to Sambrook’s brewery, and also a Heritage Centre which tells the beer-making history of Ram Quarter and Wandsworth.
As well as hosting commercial, heritage and leisure brands, Greenland has delivered hundreds of new homes on the site, including unique restored loft apartments within the Grade-II listed brewery buildings. In the process, the redevelopment has made accessible a previously hidden stretch of the historic River Wandle, allowing visitors to amble along its bank.
