The London Eid Festival is set to make a grand return to Westfield London this April, marking its fifth consecutive year to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in London. This lively celebration serves as a powerful event, uniting communities to celebrate the end of Ramadan. In an exciting development, Europe’s largest Eid al-Fitr Festival will also extend its presence to Westfield Stratford City for the first time, ensuring that more communities can partake in the festivities and share the spirit of Eid.
Running from 12th to 14th April at Westfield London, followed by Westfield Stratford City from 19th to 21st April, the London Eid Festival promises a vibrant mix of entertainment, activities and diverse food stalls both indoors and outdoors, featuring offerings from hundreds of brands representing companies from eight different countries. Anticipating more than 300,000 visitors over both weekends, the event is poised to rival the visitor numbers seen on Boxing Day at Westfield.
Guests can indulge in a diverse array of international concessions featuring fashion, gifts, and boutique items, spanning from modest fashion to children’s books and homeware. Popular Henna stations will make a return alongside the captivating live art of renowned calligrapher Samir Malik.
Entertainment will take centre stage and will feature a range of local talent and groups, with live performances by a children’s choir and a vibrant Qawwali band on Saturday night, accompanied by the exclusive beats of the Westfield music playlist tailored for both event weekends. From community celebrities to an eclectic mix of performers, including comedians, traditional singers, Sufi musicians and live DJs, there’s something for everyone. An exciting international act is also set to grace the stage on 12th and 19th April*.
Katie Wyle, Head of Shopping Centre Management at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, said: “The London Eid Festival is a huge moment for us every year as it brings together and celebrates one of our many important communities. By extending the festival to Westfield Stratford City for the first time, we aim to host an inclusive event on both sides of London where all communities can come together to experience the vibrant Eid al-Fitr celebrations, from delicious cuisine to captivating entertainment. It’s our fifth year of hosting the event and hope to make it the biggest and best yet.”
Waleed Jahangir, Managing Director at Algebra Consulting, said: “Year after year, the London Eid Festival at Westfield has blossomed, and it’s a joy to see. It’s not just about the size of the event, which has now expanded to Westfield Stratford City, but the heart, as the community and Westfield has been instrumental in this success. As organisers, we’re not just putting on a festival; we’re at the forefront of celebrating and shaping the Muslim consumer landscape. Proud and grateful, we’re ready to share this year’s bigger, vibrant Eid celebration with everyone.”
Watercolour Workshops with Maaida Noor
For the first time, Westfield is collaborating with award-winning artist Maaida Noor to produce the creative campaign artwork for the upcoming festival. Influenced by her British and Pakistani roots, Maaida takes inspiration from the incredibly rich and diverse heritage of Islamic arts and the cultural values of the Muslim world for her illustrations which will be displayed across both centres.
Maaida will lead a watercolor workshop at Westfield London on Saturday 20th April and at Westfield Stratford City on Saturday 27th April. Each participant will receive a geometric pattern (from the choice of two) on watercolour paper, which they can use to experiment with a spectrum of colours using different techniques.
