It is a measurement of the economic status being undertaken by the Globalization and World Cities Network. The other one is New York. London’s population is on the rise and should pass the cap of 9.5 million people, before the clock strikes on the birth of 2026. Therefore, it is interesting for business people, and those who would like to start their own company, to know where to locate their business in London.
London Bridge and Southwark: the Business Community
If you take a look at the Shard, you will be amazed at how they were able to use the facade systems to create such a unique tower. It used to be called the London Bridge Tower, but there is no doubt that the new name is more eloquent and adapted to its modernity, instead of the traditionalism of its prior name. Southwark is one of the oldest districts in South London. There are close to 20,000 businesses located there, and the leaders of the district are planning to bring in 30,000 more jobs, by year 2026. To make sure it all goes well, 2,500 new homes will be built, to house the newcomers.
Kings Cross: House of Tech
The last 20 years has seen King Cross expand again. Where stood an underused 67-acre industrial, now stands 50 new buildings, 10 parks, close to 2,000 homes, as well as shops, restaurants and even schools and a university. To get to this point, 20 new streets were added to the city on this nearly abandoned land. It is so big that they created a new postal code for it: N1C. That is where the tech companies have decided to nest, and now this district is competing with some of the most important ones, around the world, in the same field. Which explains why tech giants have opened-up offices in King Cross, as well. It will continue to develop as investments keep pouring in, every year.
Whitechapel and Aldgate: The Future of London
There is currently a plan to rejuvenate the area that will be delivered over the course of the next six years. It will include the construction of 3,500 new homes and the creation of over 5,000 new jobs. Since they don’t want to fall behind, a university campus will also be built on site, to guarantee the continuous growth of the area. It is seen as the district of the future, for all UK businesses, but also international ones who look to implant themselves on London grounds. More window facade systems will certainly rise to be filled by new companies that have not seen the light of day, yet.
