WWT London Wetland Centre has announced the headline activities for its inaugural Dragonfly Festival.

The final line-up at the wetland centre now includes the award-winning cast of String Theatre for The Insect Circus puppet theatre show, an outdoor macro photography exhibition by renowned wildlife and landscape photographer Andrew Fusek, dragonfly stilt walkers and storytelling with London-based storyteller Olivia Armstrong.

Matris Robotic, an educational institute focused on STEM education, will also be running a series of hands-on workshops, giving visitors the opportunity to learn basic science and engineering concepts through building a simple circuit to create light up dragonfly eyes, plus design and build their own robot dragonfly.

The festival, which is running all summer long, from now until 22 September, offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to get up close to wildlife in nature-bursting wetlands and make new memories with friends and loved ones.

The headline acts join an exciting line up of things to see and do at WWT London Wetland Centre over the next few months, including a dragonfly foot safari, pond dipping, chalk art and mini beast hunting.

Alexia Hollinshead, General Manager at WWT London Wetland Centre, said: “Our headliners promise to create unforgettable experiences and we hope they’re enjoyed by many.”

Dragonflies are the stars of WWT sites during summer months, and WWT London Wetland Centre is an official British Dragonfly Society Hotspot with more than 20 exquisite species for visitors to encounter.

Offering many opportunities to learn more about them, the summer celebration gives a unique chance to explore the dragonfly’s magical wetland world and begin a lifetime connection with these dazzling creatures.

All Dragonfly Festival activities are included in the price of admission to WWT London Wetland Centre, or free to WWT members, carers and children under three.
