Xi Home Dumplings Bay, East London’s dumpling hotspot is offering a selection of festive specials inspired by Northeastern Chinese home-style cooking this December – plus some adorable Christmas themed doughnuts to enjoy in-store or take home.

Available from Monday 1st December, the restaurant is offering four traditional Chinese dishes, each inspired by founder Wenjun’s childhood cooking with her family.

Begin with deep-fried shredded radish balls – a beloved holiday staple consisting of seasoned radish sizzling in hot oil – crispy on the outside and soft within.

Be sure to try the prawn and fish roe wontons with chilli oil for a juicy, flavour filled treat. The wontons are tossed in Xi Home’s signature dry-mix sauce and topped with fiery chilli oil that packs a punch.

The highlight of the offering is the clay pot braised beef short ribs with tomato and sweet cabbage. Inspired by Wenjun’s grandfather’s winter stews, this is a deeply comforting dish to banish the winter blues This rendition blends the bold heartiness of Northeastern cooking with Western slow braising – tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs bathed in bright tomato and cabbage.

And to finish on something sweet, try the Osmanthus-stewed pear – inspired by the simple iced fruits left outside to freeze during Northeastern winters. The pear is gently stewed in golden osmanthus syrup (a sweet, floral syrup) and paired with osmanthus cream cheese and jelly – combining in an East-meets-West delight of French patisserie.

For something less traditional but equally as delicious, be sure to try Xi Home’s two-part Christmas Donut range. The Christmas Wreath donut is a savoury donut, with a New Orleans Chicken filling and savoury dough decoration. The second donut is a festive white and red with Dubai chocolate style pistachio filling. Order online and pick up from the Spitalfields store (£7 or two for £12). Hand made and brightly decorated, they make a great gift for friends, family and colleagues too.

And Xi Home has some other brilliant gift options on offer too – for a special someone who likes a kick of spice, grab a bottle of Xi Home’s handmade chilli oil (£8.50). And for the cooking fanatic, treat them to a voucher for one of Xi Home’s weekly dumpling making classes – where they can learn to make delicious dumplings from scratch under the guidance of Xi Home’s experienced chefs (£49.46). For Xi Home’s number one fan, choose from their range of merchandise including fridge magnets, mugs and tote bags.

So head to Xi Home this Christmas season for some reimagined nostalgic delicacies and thoughtful gifts, bringing a taste of Northeastern celebrations to East London.
