Aspiring local Regent’s Park FC footballer, Louis Zecevic John, scored the highest number of goals in his U12 age group in the Gothia Youth World Cup, beating over 1600 players with his tally of 21 goals.
With 1,731 teams from 78 countries taking part, the Gothia World Youth Cup is the world’s biggest youth footballing event and has been held in Gothenberg Sweden, since 1975, and was this year featured in the BBC series Jamie Johnson. Louis’s team was part of five teams from Regent’s Park FC to take part in the Club’s 9thGothia World Cup.
Playing against teams including professional academies and feeders for some of World’s top senior sides, two of the Regent’s Park B12 teams reached the quarter finals stages and Louis, played a key team role in scoring 21 of his team’s 31 goals in 6 games as part of a fantastic team effort.
Louis Zecevic-John says, “I’m very proud of my achievement at Gothia, but know I couldn’t have done this without my team or my amazing coaches Marla, Ruben, Jamie and Keeley. I love football and enjoyed every minute of the tournament and can’t wait to go again next year!”
