After joining J.P. Morgan in 1991, Platt quickly moved to become the head of trading for swaps products related to the Euro. He was a co-founder in 2000 of Blue Crest Capital Management.

His skill at trading enabled him to avoid the worst of the 2008 financial crisis, and by 2014 Blue Crest was Europe’s fourth largest hedge fund. In 2016 Blue Crest had a profit of nearly 50%, increasing to 54% in 2017.

2. Robert Miller and Princess Marie-Chantel

Robert Miller and his daughter, Princess Marie-Chantal, have a net worth of $2bn. Miller is an American-born British trader whose concept of investment in duty-free shopping brought him to start the company DFS in 1960.

In 1973, Miller founded Search Investment Group Ltd. It is amajor shareholder in Ortelius Capital Partners, an investment company founded by Prince Pavlos of Greece, Miller’s son-in-law. Miller also heads Search Alternative Investments, a global hedge fund operator.
