The University of West London (UWL) sponsored three events at this year’s Chiswick Book Festival, which brought leading authors, commentators and broadcasters together at venues across Chiswick from 9 to 14 September.
UWL supported discussions on artificial intelligence, responsible business and the relationship between politics and the media. At Big Tech and AI, Baroness Beeban Kidron and technology journalist Jamie Bartlett discussed the influence of major technology companies, the challenges of regulation and how society can respond to the rapid development of AI.
UWL also sponsored Karma Capitalism, in which Reed Chair and Chief Executive James Reed explored why responsible business can also be good business, and Politics and the Media, featuring author and columnist Sarah Vine and broadcaster and podcaster Iain Dale.
UWL has sponsored the Festival since 2017, reflecting the University’s commitment to supporting cultural activity and strengthening its links with communities across west London.
Sara Raybould, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at UWL, said: “UWL is proud to support the Chiswick Book Festival and the valuable contribution it makes to the cultural life of West London. This year’s events created space for thoughtful discussion of issues shaping our society, from the growth of AI to responsible business and the relationship between politics and the media.”
The annual festival, established in 2009, brings authors and readers together while raising funds for reading and arts charities.
