Three Barchester colleagues successfully completed the London to Brighton Cycle Ride on Sunday 13th September, raising an impressive £1,166 for the Barchester Charitable Foundation.
Wayne Hughes, Senior General Manager, and Solomon Imafidon, Care Practitioner, from Magnolia Court Care Home in Child’s Hill, Hampstead, were joined by Raj Boodhoo, Senior General Manager at Chalfont Lodge Care Home in Chalfont St Peter, for the 54-mile challenge.
The trio took on the ride to raise money for a cause that is very close to their hearts. The Barchester Charitable Foundation supports older people and adults with disabilities across the UK by providing grants towards specialist equipment, outings, activities and memorable experiences that can improve wellbeing, encourage independence and reduce loneliness.
Wayne Hughes said: “It was a fantastic experience and made even more special knowing that we were doing it for such a worthwhile cause. There were certainly some challenging moments along the way, but we supported each other and were determined to cross the finish line together.
“We are absolutely delighted to have raised £1,166 and would like to thank everyone who donated and sent us messages of encouragement. The support we received from our colleagues, residents, relatives and friends really did mean a lot to us.”
Waiting to cheer them over the finish line were three residents from Magnolia Court, accompanied by members of the home’s team. It made for a wonderful welcome after 54 miles in the saddle and gave the residents the chance to share in the achievement.
With the challenge complete, the cyclists, residents and staff rounded off the day with a very well-deserved fish and chip lunch on the beach – the perfect way to celebrate their London to Brighton achievement together.
The teams at Magnolia Court and Chalfont Lodge were incredibly proud of Wayne, Solomon and Raj for completing the challenge and raising £1,166 for the Foundation.
Every pound raised will help the Barchester Charitable Foundation continue its work supporting older people and adults with disabilities and providing opportunities that can make a real difference to their lives.
