With the countdown to Christmas in full swing, Fleet Street Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) has revealed that Ludgate Circus will once again be illuminated during a special switch-on event on Wednesday 18th November, marking the return of Festive Fleet Street Quarter for 2026. The arrival of Christmas in the Quarter is bigger and better this year, with a larger lighting display and a packed switch-on celebration bringing festive fun for all through games, food and live music. The festivities will also continue to celebrate literature in all its forms and the power of reading as part of the National Year of Reading.

Building on the success of last year’s Snoopy in The City sculpture trail, which saw 10,000 additional visitors per week exploring the area, Fleet Street Quarter will become home to a brand-new festive sculpture trail for Christmas 2026. Launching on the 18th of November, the Dennis and Gnasher Mega Mischief Trail – Fleet Street Quarter will be in situ through to the 15th January 2027.

Mischief and mayhem will be unleashed across the area in collaboration with Beano, the world’s longest-running weekly comic. As Beano celebrates the 75th anniversary of its iconic master of mischief, Dennis the Menace, the comic’s Year of Mischief has been championing the humour, creativity, imagination and reading for fun that have made Beano and Dennis beloved by generations of children and families.

Beanotown will take over the Quarter for the holiday season, bringing Dennis and Gnasher to the heart of The Quarter. This partnership draws on Beano publisher DC Thomson’s special connection to the area, having called Fleet Street home for more than 100 years – making it a fitting way to round off Dennis’s anniversary year.

Created once again in partnership with Wild in Art, the Dennis and Gnasher Mega Mischief Trail – Fleet Street Quarter will bring together a collection of a dozen artist-designed installations to the area’s historic streets, once the beating heart of the UK’s newspaper industry. Along with the trail comes themed projections of Dennis and Gnasher on the lighting display at Ludgate Circus, making this a festive event not to be missed by fellow mischief-makers. Further details on this new partnership will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Alongside the new trail, the annual Christmas programme will bring a full calendar of free and low-cost events to the Quarter through November and December, with family-friendly activities and more set to take place across the district. From walking tours, seasonal celebrations, live performances and a family day of festive fun, this year’s Festive Fleet Street Quarter Programme offers visitors, workers and residents a chance to revel in the most wonderful time of the year in the heart of the City.

Further details on the 2026 Festive Fleet Street Quarter programme, including the new sculpture trail, celebrity involvement, charity partnership and additional seasonal experiences will be unveiled soon.
