BOXHALL City has just welcomed “CHIPPIE by Jam Delish” into its “Kitchen No8” – bringing a plant-based, Caribbean twist on the great British chippie – two much-loved food cultures.
Launched in partnership with its newest food trader Jam Delish, a renowned family-owned vegan Caribbean restaurant and cocktail bar, this limited-time pop-up is open from Wednesday 14 October to 28 November. Perfect for City workers and foodies keen to shake up their usual lunch or dinner.
Kitchen No.8 is BOXHALL City’s dedicated platform for exciting culinary talent and fresh food concepts. It is home to a rotating line-up of chefs and independent food businesses who bring new ideas, bold flavours and limited-time menus to London.
“CHIPPIE by Jam Delish” now puts a Caribbean twist on one of Britain’s most iconic food traditions. It brings classic British chippie favourites together with vibrant Caribbean flavours, completely plant-based. That’s familiar comfort food with an unexpected twist, bold seasoning and plenty of personality.
This new residency is the brainchild of Jordan and Chyna, who founded Jam Delish from a desire to recreate the authentic Caribbean dishes they grew up with through a plant-based lens – born in a lockdown dark kitchen. Over the years, it grew through pop-ups, markets and residencies into its flagship restaurant in Angel. The siblings have built a reputation for proving that plant-based food can be bold, indulgent and packed with flavour, reimagining Caribbean favourites like jerk ‘chicken’, ‘saltfish’ and curry ‘goat’ without compromising on the character of the originals.
Jordan and Chyna, Co-Founders of Jam Delish commented: ““CHIPPIE has come from Nathan and I working closely together on how we could take the flavours and creativity people know us for at Jam Delish and apply them to something completely different. We both loved the idea of reimagining the classic British chippie through a Caribbean lens.
The menu brings together nostalgia, proper comfort food and bold Caribbean flavours, while still keeping the creativity and attention to detail that sits at the heart of Jam Delish. We’ve had a lot of fun developing the concept and the dishes together, and we’re really excited to finally bring CHIPPIE by Jam Delish to BOXHALL City.”
Luther Dyer, General Manager at BOXHALL City, said: “Kitchen No.8 is dedicated to giving exciting independent food businesses the space to experiment and Jam Delish is a brilliant example. CHIPPIE brings together two much-loved food cultures in a way that feels fresh, playful and completely true to what Jam Delish does so well. We’re delighted to welcome Jordan and Chyna to BOXHALL City and give our guests the chance to experience this limited-time concept.”
