WeBuyBricks, which specialise in giving LEGO® sets a second life, has uncovered one of the most sought after LEGO® Star Wars sets, with a value of £5,000.
The Cloud City set (10123) depicts one of Star Wars most iconic scenes in The Empire Strikes Back, including Han Solo’s carbon-freezing chamber. Released in 2003, the set captures the full Cloud City atmosphere and includes a selection of rare minifigures which do not appear in other LEGO® sets.
One of the standout features in the set which drives the value for collectors is the highly sought-after SW0107 Cloud City Boba Fett minifigure, featuring the distinctive printed arms and legs.
In 2003, LEGO® was nowhere near today’s level of minifigure printing, meaning the Cloud City Boba Fett was an exceptionally detailed figure for its time. Today it is one of the most valuable LEGO® minifigures, commanding £1,500-£2,000+ on its own.
The set contains 7 minifigures in total, including 4 exclusive minifigures that do not appear in any other LEGO® sets. As well as Boba Fett the other rare figures include Luke Skywalker in his Cloud City outfit, Lando Calrissian with smooth hair and Princess Leia in her Cloud City outfit. The additional minifigures in the set include Darth Vader, Han Solo and a Stormtrooper.
This particular set was released in a very limited run and only available to buy in LEGO® stores, meaning finding one today in great condition is a rarity, making this set a collectors dream.
WeBuyBricks purchases and re-sells pre-loved LEGO® sets, using its newly developed ‘Bric-o-Matic’, an AI LEGO® brick sorting machine which uses custom AI and machine learning software to identify more than 55,000 different bricks, sorting by colour and shape, and even reporting on how complete the set is.
The Cloud City set was sent to WeBuyBricks by a seller, then sorted by the Bric-o-Matic, and quality checked. The set is thought to be complete, with the minifigures in excellent condition. WeBuyBricks has valued the set at £4,999 and is now available to purchase on the website.
