A Trip Through Divine Australian Locales

When you think of Australia, you probably think of sunny beaches, rolling waves, and of course, kangaroos. It is an excellent place to visit for several reasons. From world-class wine selections to stunning beaches, everything this exotic island offers is worth experiencing. Just to give you a heads-up, if you were to visit one Australian beach a day, it would take you approximately 27 years to see them all.

If you plan to visit Australia you can utilise sydney airport car hire but cannot make up your mind, give The Adventures of a Train Trekker by Adriana Carboni, a read. This book speaks about the excitement, spirit, and adventure of long-distance travel in Australia. The reader is simply transported through the ancient Australian continent’s lush, sometimes harsh terrains. This resource is even more unique because, unlike many books of the same genre, it doesn’t exclude the Aboriginal past of Australia. The continent was once, and still to a great extent, home to a significant population of Aborigines.

Traversing across Australia is exciting enough; doing so on a train makes it even better. Since the dawn of railways, people have been fascinated with the technology of trains, their design, and their construction that made travel possible and pleasurable on rugged terrain. Australia can be crossed by two great railway journeys, including the Queensland’s great train. The Ghan cuts north to south from Darwin to Adelaide. While the Indian Pacific crosses east to west, perfect for travelling from Sydney to Perth. The Queensland trains go north,  south,  east, and west

The Ghan’s Origins & Ethereal Journey

There is an interesting story behind the name of The Ghan. It is named after the Afghan cameleers who transported goods to Australia’s remote centre before the construction of the railway. Back then, horses were not a usable mode of transport due to excessive sand and heat.

The construction of the original Ghan began in 1878. The first trains were twisty and vulnerable to flash floods that often washed away tracks and even bridges in extreme cases. In view of these challenges, a decision was made soon to rebuild all of the railway lines. The final line opened up in 2004.

With The Ghan, you have the perfect opportunity to explore the wide-open spaces. The best way to experience the vast outback is to get on board in Adelaide at noon and enjoy lunch as you watch the country’s gracious outskirts coalesce into pastoral lands producing heavenly wine.

Adventures Aboard The Indian Pacific

In 1969, travelling from Sydney to Perth became possible with the completion of the standard gauge railway. Few train journeys are as majestic as the Indian Pacific. During this four-day journey, you can get a glimpse into Broken Hill’s rich art history, sample some of South Australia’s best food and wine, and experience the striking landscape of the Nullarbor Plain.

When you experience Australia by train, you get to see things and places you would otherwise miss. The country embodies a unique cultural milieu that is a blend of Western and Aboriginal cultures. The Western culture might be the dominant force in Australia, especially in urban areas. But when you travel to the countryside, you get the opportunity to immerse yourself in indigenous communities. The journeys on the Ghan and the Indian Pacific and Queensland rail,  make these travels charming and special.

The Adventures of a Train Trekker is a fascinating read for people looking to travel across Australia. It offers valuable information on stops along the journey. For more information on the book and the author, please feel free to visit Adriana Carboni’s website.
