Aer Lingus is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of its new direct route from Dublin to Indianapolis with connections from 10 UK airports, bringing seamless transatlantic travel to the Midwest sporting hub. Starting May 3, 2025, this service is set to drive strong demand from the UK, offering seamless links through Dublin connecting from Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Heathrow, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton airports.
With four flights per week, the new Aer Lingus route offers customers in the UK and Europe an effortless gateway to one of the most celebrated sports destinations in the US. The city is home to the iconic Indianapolis 500, aka the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing’, as well as iconic sporting venues like Victory Field, Lucas Oil Stadium, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and the NCAA Hall of Champions.
The inaugural flight comes at an exciting time for Indianapolis, as the Indy 500 countdown begins. Taking place on May 25, the 109th running of the Indy 500 is expected to attract almost 300,000 racing fans to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Aer Lingus is set to make its own mark on the city by sponsoring the prestigious Rev Indy event at the famous oval racing circuit on the evening of the inaugural flight.
Indianapolis, one of the top 30 US metro areas with a population exceeding 2 million, is also a dynamic business hub. Although many global companies call the city home, Indianapolis has no direct connection with Europe. This new direct flight to Dublin will offer seamless connections between Indianapolis and more than 20 destinations across the UK and mainland Europe, including Paris, London, Frankfurt, Rome and Amsterdam.
Aer Lingus Chief Executive Officer, Lynne Embleton said: “At Aer Lingus, our mission is to strengthen connectivity between North America and Europe. This new direct flight between Indianapolis and Dublin is a significant milestone for our airline, bringing the number of transatlantic routes we fly to a total of 24.
Indianapolis is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States and a vibrant hub for business, sports, and culture. With this new service, Aer Lingus will offer the only direct flight connecting Indianapolis to Europe, fostering stronger business, cultural, and sporting ties across the Atlantic.”
