Alexandra Burke in E20: The Xmas Lights Switch On

On Thursday 2 December, Alexandra Burke will be headlining East Village’s Christmas lights switch-on. The London-born singer who has sold over 5 million records will be performing a selection of her greatest hits on-stage at the former Olympic Athletes’ Village.

Starting at 6pm at East Village E20’s Victory Parade, there will be a host of fun events for the whole family, including a kids Christmas craft workshop run by The Yard Theatre, fairground rides, a Ferris wheel, and the switch on of the Christmas lights.

Attendees can get into the Christmas spirit with festive treats from East Village retailers and local vendors at the food market including Roots, Mother Kelly’s and Ban Be. As a welcome present, guests will be treated to a FREE mince pie or mulled wine, supplied by local bakery Signorelli – while supplies last.

Alexandra will be taking the stage at 8:15 until 8:55pm following a fabulous supporting bill including Luke Carey, the Guitar Tuition East London band, carols from the Newham Music choir and DJ Rami Radi.

The free, inclusive community event is being organised by Get Living, the neighbourhood’s operator which rents close to 2,000 homes across E20. Eoin Thomas, community and events lead at Get Living, said: “Our Christmas event at East Village is one of our favourite moments of the year and we’re delighted to bring it back after a two-year wait. We’re thrilled too that the incredibly talented Alexandra Burke will be helping us turn on the Christmas lights and performing her amazing hits. With fun and games for the whole family, it’s an event that all ages will enjoy.”
