ANTI-SEMITISM in the UK needs to be tackled “head on” in the wake of the Bondi Beach terror attack, according to the Shadow Transport Secretary Richard Holden.
He told GB News: “Seeing the Jewish community targeted yet again, it’s just awful. And my mind was thrown back to those attacks in Manchester just a few months ago, on the on the synagogue there, it’s pretty clear that there are people who are just [full of] hate in our country at the moment that have – I can’t, I don’t understand this sort of level of loathing and anti-Semitism myself.
“I can’t. I cannot see it or understand it. And we need to get through to people to tackle this properly. It’s just awful that we’re in a situation where people have such hatred of people just because of their religion. I really do think that we’ve got to take this head on.”
Asked if pro-Palestine marches should be banned, he said: “Well, I think that’s a gain, there are some people on those marches who clearly [have] pro-terrorist sympathies.
“That’s the thing we’ve got to take on, the idea that because people are Jewish, that they don’t have the same rights.

“I mean, we’re looking at the Jewish community is so small just in the UK but worldwide, there’s only about ten million Jewish people, and the fact that they’re constantly being targeted by some of these hate-filled people, is just appalling.
“We need to make sure that Jewish people feel, whether it’s here or around the world, feel that they’re part of our society and that they’re supported by the rest of us.
“So I think it’s incumbent on us actually, to really show that support publicly as well and I don’t want people to have to hide away the fact that they’re Jewish.
“It’s just a terrible situation that so many people feel that they’re trapped both here and in other countries as well.”
