Detectives are appealing for information following a high-value burglary in Hatton Garden and have released images of two men wanted for questioning.

At around 12:35hrs on Thursday, 7 March, officers were called to reports of a break-in at a jewellers’ office on Hatton Garden, Clerkenwell.

Officers attended and found a female member of staff tied to a chair in the building.

Police established that she had opened the door to two men who asked to speak to her father. When she told them he wasn’t present, they pushed her down and threatened her with a knife before asking for the keys to the safe. After refusing to provide them, the suspects tied the woman to a chair before carrying out a search of the building.

High value jewellery including rings, diamonds and earrings worth approximately £70,000 are reported to have been stolen from the store, as well as £4,000 in cash.

Officers from the Met’s Central North CID are investigating and have released images of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

Detective Constable Alina Blain, leading the investigation, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victim involved and one which she has to re-live every time she comes to work.

“We are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and are very keen to speak to these two men or anyone who thinks they may be able to identify them.”

Both men are described as being in their 20s to early 30s, white with tanned skin and spoke with a European accent.

One of the suspects wore a hat and glasses, had a beard and moustache and was of slim build. The other suspect had long brown hair, was clean shaven and of slim build.
