Appeal following robbery on bus in South London

Detectives from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for information following a robbery on board a bus in south London.

On the morning of Thursday, 9 April, the victim, a 69-year-old man, boarded a Route 403 bus near West Croydon Bus Garage for Warlingham and took a seat on the lower deck on the driver’s side next to the window, in front of the buggy/disabled area.

At approximately 11:55hrsl, the bus pulled into Mayfield Road bus stop close to the junction with Brambledown Road. The suspect approached the victim from behind and took hold of his Huawai 20 Mate Pro mobile phone.

The victim held onto his phone before falling to the floor. In fear of his safety, he let go of his phone and the suspect ran out of the exit door towards Brambledown Road.

The suspect is described as between 27 and 35 years old, 5ft 8ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing all dark clothing, including a dark hooded jacket and dark baseball cap.
