Arctic Monkey’s Glastonbury set in doubt: music ticket sellers forecast who’s most likely to replace the band

Festivalgoers are now predicting who could take the headline slot if they have to also pull out of Glastonbury, with one tweeting “If Arctic Monkeys can’t play on Friday… Glastonbury, who could replace them? Coldplay, Pulp, Foo’s?” and another adding “Arctic Monkeys to pull out of Glastonbury and The 1975 to replace them, please dear lord I will do anything xoxo”. Another Twitter user also added their suggestions “The time has come. Fred Again B2B Four Tet B2B Skrillex to replace Arctic Monkeys at Glastonbury.”.

Lisa Braithwaite, music expert at online ticketing platform Skiddle shared her expert thoughts on what this could mean for Glastonbury 2023, “Whilst Glastonbury is seen as one of the biggest music festivals in the world and many artists would love to perform on the iconic stage, logistically it will be a nightmare for organisers to find a replacement act if Arctic Monkeys have to pull out of the lineup.

“Many large music acts often have show commitments such as tours, festivals and other performances that are booked in advance, and therefore many acts will be busy or even in other countries. This, combined with the short notice, means that an act already in the line-up could be boosted to the headliner position.

“There is huge anticipation for the mystery band “The Churnups” who are due on before Royal Blood. There is no idea who The Churnups are and they have no additional information on the official Glastonbury website. Many are convinced Foo Fighters or Pulp are behind the pseudonym, with Glasto organisers confirming the performer is still a mystery.

“If this is indeed a surprise big act, we could see them bumped up the line-up and will take over the headliner spot, with a smaller act taking over their original slot. All eyes will be on the stage on Friday.”
