art’otel London Battersea Power Station & Nine Elms Arts Ministry launch Christmas Community Art Studio

With Christmas just around the corner, art’otel London Battersea Power Station is excited to announce the launch of Follow the Star, a Christmas community art studio running throughout the whole of December.

Local not for profit Nine Elms Art Ministry will be taking over the hotel’s art’beat studio, filling it with free creative opportunities for all to enjoy. Taking centre stage is the creation of a giant festive mural by artist Adalberto Lonardi – a former student of art’otel Battersea’s Signature Artist Jaime Hayon – depicting a contemporary take on a traditional nativity, set in the heart of Battersea. Local residents, visitors and hotel guests are invited to come and help paint the mural, playing a role in the creation of a spectacular festive centrepiece.

A studio for artists and the community
From 12 to 15 December, art’otel and Nine Elms Arts Ministry will host a diverse group of local artists, both established and emerging, to create their own additions to the space. Reflecting various artistic styles, cultures, and faiths, these artists will create small artworks in response to and building upon Adalberto Lonardi’s masterpiece, forming a captivating exhibition within the studio.

From 16 December to 5 January, the art’beat studio will become a room of inspiration where residents, visitors and guests can enjoy the finished artwork, take time to pause and reflect, and creatively respond. The room will be filled with quality brushes, pencils, markers, paper and cards designed by Adalberto, inviting visitors to express their creativity and enjoy a mindful pause from the outside world. Visitors’ creations will be displayed in the studio as a curated community art space.

A programme of festive artist-led workshops and events will also be curated by Nine Elms Arts Ministry between 16 December to 4 January, exploring the artworks and creatively celebrating the festive season.
