Autograph Collection Hotels is today announcing the second event in its Behind The Scenes speaker series. Shining a light on inspirational industry insiders from the world of independent film, the next event will take place at the newly opened Autograph Collection Hotel, The Dixon on the 4th April, with a panel discussion exploring the craft of set design.

Hit films from this year alone have transported viewers through the ages and around the globe, from the busy streets of Mexico City in Roma, to 1930’s London in Mary Poppins Returns. In this next event, Autograph Collection will go behind the scenes with some of the UK’s best set designers to discover the art of building these immersive worlds.

Led by the UK’s most respected film critic, Mark Kermode, guests will have the chance to hear first-hand stories from leading British set designers including John Paul Kelly and Michael Carlin, who’ve collectively designed the sets for the UK’s most highly regarded independent and blockbuster films, including Colette, Stan & Ollie, The Theory of Everything and The Duchess.

Behind The Scenes celebrates individuality, diversity and the art of storytelling within independent film, values that are integral to Autograph Collection and its one-of-a-kind hotels around the world that are handpicked for their unique story.

The Dixon is a natural host for the event as a boutique hotel that honours the colourful heritage of the building it resides in and celebrates local, contemporary art. Socially and culturally immersive, supporting SE1 art talent is at the heart of the hotel’s ethos with guests benefitting from local partnerships including Anise Gallery.

The series is part of Autograph Collection’s Indie Film Project, a long-term, multi-faceted cultural programme that celebrates film and offers meaningful support to independent filmmakers and their craft across all stages of development – from screenplay to production and distribution.

Behind The Scenes talks will take place in London every quarter throughout 2019 and a limited number of complimentarty tickets are available by emailing [email protected].
