More than 30 years ago, Ben Elton exploded into the national consciousness hosting Channel 4’s groundbreaking Saturday Live. Now, after a 15+ year absence, Elton returns to the medium he did so much to define.

Following the huge success of Ben Elton’s sold-out UK and international 2019-2021 (interrupted by a certain international health crisis) stand-up tour, Altitude are pleased to announce the digital release of ‘Ben Elton Live’ on Monday 24 October. Recorded earlier this year at Southend’s Palace Theatre, the multi-award-winning comedy writer and undisputed Godfather of modern stand-up delivers over two hours of blisteringly incisive comedy, in which the motor-mouth of the master tries to make sense of a world which appears to have gone stark raving mad.

Ben is a true polymath whose unsurpassed career, which spans over 40 years, includes seminal and ground-breaking television shows, four hit West End plays, four hit West End musicals, 16 bestselling novels and three feature films. But it was his hugely influential work as a stand-up comic that made him into a national figure.

Ben says: “I don’t want to boast but it’s my press release so what else am I going to do? Ben Elton Live crams fifteen years of accumulated outrage and bewilderment into two hours of sweat soaked, gag filled, taboo busting, tonsil rattling, sacred cow slaughtering, wanker exposing, dickhead destroying, mind expanding, arse ripping, profane, incisive, uplifting, motor mouthed hilarity and it’s f*cking brilliant. People say ‘you can’t say anything anymore’. Just watch me.”
