Big Manny has been officially revealed as an Ambassador for Childline, which was announced during a visit to the helpline’s headquarters.

The social media content creator, who has millions of followers across TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, paid a special visit to the NSPCC-service’s base in London to meet with staff and volunteers to mark the appointment.

During the visit, Big Manny took part in a tour of Childline by Service Head, Barry Laker, where live contacts from young people were taking place with volunteers and staff members.

The science expert, who has a master’s degree in biomedical sciences, also met with Edmond Chan, a Staff Practitioner at Childline, who shared insights into the main reasons children reach out for help, which includes concerns about family relationships, mental health and bullying.

Big Manny said: “I’m thrilled to be announced as an Ambassador for Childline as the service aligns perfectly with my mission in life to help children succeed.

“I was so inspired during my visit to do even more to support the charity, and it was fascinating to meet with and hear from the volunteers and staff on the variety of concerns coming from young people.

“To any children reading this: you don’t need to be afraid to ask for help. Childline is a confidential service with many wonderful volunteers who are available to support you with whatever issues you may be facing.”

Becoming an Ambassador for Childline enables well-known individuals to use their platform to promote the voices of children. The role also enables them to be a passionate advocate for the safety and wellbeing of children.

Before being announced as an Ambassador, Big Manny had supported the NSPCC-service by visiting a local school in Dagenham to take part in the Childhood Day Mile and providing advice to young people on feeling lonely.

Shaun Friel, Director of Childline, said: “We are very grateful to have Big Manny as an Ambassador for Childline. He is such a well-known figure on social media, as well as television, and speaks directly to children on a daily basis.

“We know that many children are still unaware of what we do and how we can help them. We want to encourage as many young people as possible to come forward for support, no matter what their worry is.

“Big Manny’s popularity on a range of platforms will enable him to help us educate young people about Childline and encourage them to reach out to our free service with any worries or concerns.”
