Biggest ever Winter Sculpture Exhibition to open at RHS Rosemoor

More than 120 captivating sculptures by 32 artists are set to go on display at RHS Rosemoor from 12 November in its largest ever Winter Sculpture Exhibition. The popular annual event features the work of sculptors from across the UK, including a number of local West Country artists.

Set in the spectacular landscapes of RHS Rosemoor as the seasons move from autumn into winter, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover an eclectic range of styles and themes. Most pieces are for sale, with prices starting from just £20, and many of the sculptors will also take commissions. Every sale supports the RHS in its charitable work.

Highlights for this year include works by internationally renowned sculptor Anne Curry MRSS, whose large stone pieces are inspired by the natural forms of seeds and bulbs. Don’t miss Listen to the Forest by Brendon Murless, a chance to reflect and absorb the trees in the Lower Woodland, and The Left Hand That Caught Me Falling by Jonty Hurwitz, a stunning piece merging the worlds of art and science.

With a wide variety of materials, techniques and inspirations informing the sculptors’ work, the trail features everything from fluid and hypnotic installations to thought-provoking, large-scale pieces that invite the viewer to consider their connection to nature.

Each piece complements the sculptural and textural delights of the garden in winter, bringing structural elements to the fore under the soft rays of the low winter sun, with misty and frosty mornings adding an ethereal air. For an entirely different view, visitors to Glow at RHS Rosemoor in November and December will once again this year enjoy the chance to see a number of the pieces illuminated as part of the after-dark trail.

Emma Thompson, Head of RHS Garden Rosemoor, says: “We’re thrilled to be inviting more artists than ever to take part in this year’s exhibition, adding to the beauty of the gardens and inspiring us all to look at the landscape in an entirely new light.”

Admission to the Winter Sculpture Exhibition during the day is included with garden entry (free to RHS Members and children under 5, normal admission applies to non-members). Tickets for Glow must be booked in advance. For further information, including how to book tickets and travel advice, visit www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/rosemoor/whats-on/winter-sculpture-exhibition
