It was a life-changing moment for one special bingo lover at Mecca Bingo on Tamworth Road, Croydon when she claimed a whopping £50,000 jackpot on the National Bingo Game.

Sheila Halcomb 66, a grandmother of five, was introduced to bingo by her father and has been a regular dabber for over 40 years. Sheila and her three siblings, Peter (57) Maureen (63) and Carol (67) meet up every three weeks at their local club for a fun family evening of bingo, and the day of her big win was no exception. However, the night took an unexpected and exhilarating turn when all Sheila’s numbers came up and she called house on the National Bingo Game.

Sheila Halcomb said: “When I realised I won the jackpot, I was overcome with emotion. My siblings and I have been avid bingo fans for years and have never won before, it just goes to show that it’s always worth a go, even if you’re just playing for fun, you never know when your luck might change.”

When asked about her jackpot win, Sheila said that she and her siblings made a pact that any win, regardless of whether big or small, would always be shared amongst them.

Michael Herbert, General Manager at Mecca Bingo Croydon, said: “It’s such an exciting occasion when someone calls house on the National Bingo Game. We’re absolutely delighted for Sheila and her family, who are true bingo lovers! They are living proof that you can win big at Mecca Bingo – a £50,000 win is no mean feat. We’re delighted for Sheila and can’t wait to keep welcoming her and her siblings for more bingo fun!”

Alastair Stewart, Head of Commercial Operations at the National Bingo Game, said: “We are thrilled for Sheila and her family and hope they enjoy the winnings. Bingo is always great entertainment and it just goes to show that you can win big too!”
