From Sunday 27th June, London’s world-famous Borough Market is extending its produce trading hours into Sundays for the first time in modern history, so that shoppers can access sustainable produce seven days a week.
In a return to Borough Market’s roots, the Sunday Market will focus on high quality produce and store cupboard essentials; street food will not be served. More than 40 producers will be open from 10am to 2pm, offering meats, fish, fruit & veg, bread & baked goods and store cupboard essentials.*
Borough Market remained open throughout each lockdown over the last 14 months as a source of essential fresh produce for Londoners, and the move to open on Sundays is in response to customer demand for more opportunities to do their regular food shopping.
Darren Henaghan, Managing Director, Borough Market said: “Extending our trading from six to seven days per week is a historic move for Borough Market. We wanted to give our customers more choice on when to visit us and for Sunday opening, we’re returning to our roots. Back in 1998 we reinvented ourselves from a wholesale centre to a retail market for high quality food and we want to recapture that atmosphere – expert traders and producers providing advice and sharing stories with shoppers who love food. From picking up the perfect joint for a Sunday roast complete with all the seasonal veg, to discovering something new for the cheeseboard along with freshly baked bread and wine to accompany, we love Sundays and hope our visitors will too!”
