Borough Market’s popular ‘An Evening of Cheese’ live event is back, right in time for Londoners and visitors to stock-up on old favourites and unique offerings for Christmas in the festive-decorated Victorian surroundings of London’s oldest food market.

The cheese-themed extravaganza is taking place on Wednesday 15th December between 6-8pm, where over 15 of the Market’s expert cheesemongers will be welcoming people to their stalls, to share their tips and wisdom on the much-loved food. From cows and goats to sheep and vegan cheeses, the Market’s traders will have all you need to prepare that ultimate cheese board this Christmas, from both UK and International producers.

Expect recommendations, tips and advice on creating the perfect cheese board, delectable cheese & drinks pairings, and mouthwatering festive cheese recipes.

The Bath Soft Cheese Co, Blackwoods Cheese Company, Borough Cheese Company, Brindisa Ltd, The French Comte, Gastronomica, Heritage Cheese LTD, Jumi Cheese Ltd, Kappacasein Dairy, L’Ubriaco Drunk Cheese, Mons Cheesemongers, Neal’s Yard Dairy, The Parma Ham and Mozzarella Stand, Trethowan’s Dairy and Une Normande a Londres will be showcasing their produce on the evening, each unique in their offering to bring an array of classic and surprising cheese varieties to the table this Christmas.

And Bianca e Mora will be bringing back the ever popular ‘cracking of the parmesan wheel’ competition, which will see traders go head-to-head with the Italian stallholder, in the traditional Italian activity which aims to see who can break the hefty wheel first – not a task for the faint hearted!

Drinks traders Utobeer, Cartwrights’ and Cider House will also be staying open late for the occasion, serving festive drinks to whet the palate between tastings.

Kate Howell, Director of Communications and Engagement at Borough Market, said: “An Evening of Cheese is one of our favourite events of the year. What better way to spend a night in the run-up to Christmas than sampling and choosing some of the finest cheeses the capital has to offer, all while picking up essential advice from our traders along the way. We’re confident visitors to the event will leave with something particularly special to serve at the dinner table this Christmas!”

Throughout December, shoppers can visit the Market every day until 3pm on Christmas Eve. Borough Market Kitchen will be opening late on Thursdays, allowing visitors to journey around the world one bite at a time, with special delights alongside menu musts from the Market’s diverse street food traders, available until 9pm.

The Borough Market Kitchen will also be open between 10am and 5pm (Mon-Wednesday*, Saturday) and 10am-6pm (Friday) and is located in Jubilee Place, the Market’s current wholesale area.
