Bridget Jones will now remain a permanent fixture on Leicester Square’s celebrated Scenes in the Square trail, timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Bridget Jones’s Diary and the film’s theatrical re‑release beginning Friday 17 April. First unveiled in November 2025, the statue stands alongside some of cinema’s most iconic characters, including Harry Potter, Batman, Paddington, Wonder Woman and Mary Poppins.
Bridget Jones also makes history as the first statue on the trail to celebrate a romantic comedy, joining a line‑up that spans 100 years of cinema. The collection includes characters from across genres, from fantasy and superheroes to family favourites and horror.
The announcement marks the start of the film’s 25th anniversary celebrations, with Bridget Jones’s Diary returning to cinemas from Friday 17 April, giving audiences the chance to revisit the film that reshaped the romantic comedy genre forever.
Kirsty Tullett-Jones, Director of Marketing & Communications for Discover Leicester Square, comments: “For 25 years, Bridget has made Londoners laugh, cry and feel seen. The reaction to her arrival in Leicester Square has been incredible, showing just how much she continues to resonate with audiences today. With the trail already celebrating the very best of film, it felt only right to honour one of the most iconic rom-com characters of all time. Making Bridget a permanent fixture cements her place in both Leicester Square and British cultural history.”
Bridget Jones’s Diary will be back in cinemas from Friday 17 April.
