Celebrate Christmas early at Castle Square with a festive Christmas tree light switch on in Zone 1’s, Elephant and Castle. This year, the neighbourhood will be hosting British rap sensation, Professor Green, who will lend Santa a hand in switching on the Christmas lights alongside the Mayor of Southwark.
The event will be hosted on Friday 29th November from 3:30pm – 7:30pm where visitors can celebrate the switching on of the Castle Square Christmas lights, as well as an afternoon filled with live brass band music, carols, food, and special guests!
It wouldn’t be Christmas without Santa, and Castle Square will be home to Santa’s Grotto, where Londoners can visit Santa and his elves! Guests can send their Christmas lists off to the North Pole in Santa’s Post Box or tell Santa ahead of the big day why they should be on the nice list.
Spreading the festive cheer, Castle Square will be buzzing with free entertainment across the square. Christmas carols will be sung by the Elephant and Castle Community Hub Choir and guests can choose to listen or join in as they sing their favourite carols before the Christmas tree lights are turned on by Professor Green himself, who is renowned for his ongoing charity work and keen focus on celebrating London communities. The Southwark Brass Band will also be performing, filling the Square with joy.
Visitors will not want to miss the main event as the Giant Christmas Tree and Castle Square lights will be switched on from 5:00pm. Castle Square will be transformed with the festivities as guests can kick off the festive season early with the local community.
