Fancy a treasure hunt around London? Brompton, the London-based maker of the original folding bike, is putting a cycling spin on the classic treasure hunt. Hiding across London are three limited-edition ‘Golden Tickets’ in Brompton Bike Hire lockers, ahead of this year’s Brompton World Championships.
Each Golden Ticket is a bespoke, factory-etched Brompton part hidden inside its Bike Hire lockers, and if you find one along the London cycle route, then you’ll win free entry to the Brompton World Championships this September.
And there’s no need to own a Brompton to join in on the hunt. Brompton Bike Hire will be completely FREE across London on Thursday 27 August using the code #BWCLONDON26, giving you the chance to unlock a hire bike, follow the clues around London and see if you can strike lucky and find a Golden Ticket.
The 2026 Brompton World Championship (BWC) are being held on Saturday 5th September at Lee Valley VeloPark, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with tickets on sale now.
Brompton has bike hire lockers across London, which is a nationwide network of over 70 automated, solar-powered docking lockers where you can rent compact folding Brompton bicycles for £5 per 24-hour period.
However, keep your eyes peeled currently, as Brompton are giving lucky riders the chance to win free entry to the Brompton World Championships.
How to find a Brompton Golden Ticket
The Golden Tickets have been hidden along a scenic London route taking riders from central London towards the Olympic Park, encouraging people to explore the city by bike.
But riders won’t have to work it all out for themselves. Popular Instagram cyclist, Johno Verity, will be taking to Instagram on Thursday 27 August with clues to the Golden Ticket locations, following his own dawn ride across London.
Riders can simply hire a Brompton, and keep their eyes peeled for the Golden Ticket.
Brompton Bike Hire is usually £5 for 24 hours, but to celebrate the launch of the Golden Ticket hunt, Bike Hire will be FREE across London 27/08/2026.
Brompton Bike Hire is also FREE on Saturday 5th September with the code , so you don’t need to own a Brompton to take part in the World Championship.
Brompton World Championship 2026
And for those who don’t find a Golden Ticket, there is still plenty to look forward to. The Brompton World Championship is free to spectate, with an open community lap that anyone can join on the day.
The famous Le Mans-style start will once again see competitors sprint to their folded Brompton bikes before unfolding them and racing onto the circuit, with riders competing across ten qualifying heats before the fastest men and women progress to the championship finals.
Known as much for its personality as its competition, BWC continues to celebrate individuality, with riders encouraged to swap Lycra for creative outfits inspired by their city, country, culture or imagination.
Beyond the racing, visitors can enjoy a full day celebrating Brompton and city cycling, including:
Brompton demos and test rides
Folding competitions
Workshops and community talks
Exclusive merchandise
Food and drink
Entertainment throughout the day
Tickets for the Brompton World Championship 2026 are available now.
Spectating at the event is free, with riders, supporters and cycling fans all welcome to join the celebrations at Lee Valley VeloPark on Saturday 5th September.
