Famous for their iconic lobster roll, this International Women’s Day will see Burger & Lobster release a Japanese-inspired take on the cult classic for the first time ever, in collaboration with dynamic duo Sophie Wyburd & Hannah Crosbie, hosts of top-charting podcast I’ll Have What She’s Having.

In the ultimate all-female line-up, the Lobster Katsu Curry Roll which has been reimagined by chef extraordinaire and former Head of Food at Mob Kitchen, Sophie Wyburd, will be available in all nine Burger & Lobster restaurants across the capital from 8th March until 10th April.

Sophie’s creative genius marks a UK-first invention and this, combined with Burger & Lobster’s obsession with serving the highest quality ingredients, makes for a culinary link-up like no other.

Working alongside Burger & Lobsters’ talented chefs, the one-of-a-kind dish will feature B&L’s signature toasted brioche roll, crispy panko lobster meat dressed with a sweet curry sauce, ginger, and Kewpie Japanese mayonnaise. The aromatic masterpiece will be garnished with pink pickled ginger, spring onions and black sesame seeds, served with a side of golden crisp fries and a creamy curry mayo.

If that wasn’t enough, wine writer and one half of I’ll Have What She’s Having, Hannah Crosbie will be elevating the dish with an (optional) glass of expertly paired floral and fresh white wine courtesy of one of Spain’s top female winemakers, Katia Alvarez of Galician winery Martín Códax.

Hannah Crosbie, comments: “I’m so excited that everyone involved in our IWD collaboration is a woman: from the marketing team to operations, from the winemaker to me and Sophie. It’s been such a collaborative effort and a genuine pleasure to watch so many female professionals in hospitality come together and create something different and daring for Burger & Lobster.”

Chef Sophie Wyburd, comments: “It’s a total pleasure to be working with Burger & Lobster alongside my good friend Hannah to develop an IWD special menu item in the form of my Lobster Katsu Curry Roll, with an accompanied wine pairing from my talented pal. I take so much joy and inspiration from the brilliant women I surround myself with everyday, both at work and at home, and this dish and activation is a culmination of all those experiences. Bring your favourite females down to Burger & Lobster and give them a treat – they deserve it.”

With Katsu-curry having slowly become one of Britain’s most-loved curries on the high streets in recent years, the bespoke addition to Burger & Lobster’s crustacean clan will undoubtedly be a distinctive crowd pleaser for many. The limited-edition Lobster Katsu Curry Roll served with fries (£27 without wine, £35 with one glass) will be available exclusively at all nine Burger & Lobster restaurants from Wednesday 8th March – 10th April for lunch and dinner. With locations across the city, take your pick from the expansive terrace at West India Quay, two spots in The City and various West End locations.
