Cameron Vale Children Deliver Trollies Full of Donations to UK Harvest Charity

Children from Chelsea’s Cameron Vale School, an outstanding independent school situated in the heart of London, have celebrated the Harvest Festival by collecting food items for charity.

Families and staff were encouraged to bring in donations in aid of ‘UK Harvest’ who distribute food to charities such as refuges, shelters and youth centres and others in need.

The children took part in a special Harvest Festival assembly, where they learned about the importance of caring for others and reflected on how the Harvest Festival is a time to be thankful for all the good things in life and to be grateful for the food they have.

They also learned about Harvest Festival and thanksgiving traditions from around the world and sang some special Harvest songs.

After assembly, UK Harvest collected all the items and with the help of some of the school pupils – pictured here with only a small part of the generous donations – loaded them into their van, ready to be taken away and packed up for redistribution.

Bridget Saul, Headteacher at Cameron Vale, said: “Donating and fundraising are important at Cameron Vales as it encourages the children to think about how they can work to help others who are less fortunate and helps them feel part of the community. Our recent Art Auction raised over £5,000 for a local charity, Gold for Kids.”

We are extremely proud of our children for their kindness and want to thank them and their families for all their donations.”

We strive to give our pupils the best education, but we don’t just stop at the core subjects. We recognise that outcomes matter however, our aim is to ensure that, at the end of each child’s time with us, they feel that Cameron Vale has made a positive difference to their character, thinking and outlook; that the school has shaped who they will become.”

Chloe Thompson, Deputy Headteacher added: “Being in the heart of London, we see first-hand how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting people. Now more than ever it’s vital we highlight the importance of charity and lending a helping hand to those in need. ‘UK Harvest’ is a very worthwhile charity, not only collecting and distributing food but also helping the environment by ensuring that good food is being eaten rather than going to landfill, thereby preventing tonnes of carbon emissions from polluting our atmosphere.”
