Club Curling returns to King’s Cross

READY, SET, CURL…let the games commence! Bowling’s cooler cousin, Club Curling, returns to King’s Cross this Christmas from Thursday 9 November with some exciting new additions for 2023.

Club Curling

London’s hottest festive fixture is taking a trip back to this year’s hottest decade – the ‘90s! In its usual Coal Drops Yard location, teams of up to six people per lane can play at Club Curling from 12pm to 8pm every day, with sessions lasting 45 minutes.

Avid curlers will be able to enjoy the six colourful, sustainable curling lanes for just £8 a person (children under 12 play for free when accompanied by an adult), making it the perfect activity the whole family can enjoy this festive season. If that’s not all, whilst enjoying a whirl at the curl there will also be a pop-up bar where visitors can sip away on top notch tipples.

As with last year, a donation from each ticket sale will go to charity. In 2022, King’s Cross raised a whopping £14,500 for local homelessness charity, New Horizon Youth Centre and national homelessness charity, Shelter.

Players are encouraged to pre-book online to avoid disappointment. Some lanes may be available on a ‘turn up and play’ basis.

Thursday Lates

This year, King’s Cross is launching Thursday Lates – its first ever late-night shopping series. Running from 9 November to 14 December, shoppers can enjoy calm and traffic free shopping in the heart of the city every Thursday evening for six weeks until 9pm. People can hand-pick their favourite gifts (for themselves or their loved ones!) from a range of well-known and independent brands – or check out one of the eight festive markets in the neighbourhood for beautiful hand-crafted presents.

Live DJ nights

And while they’re at it, shoppers will be entertained with a six-week line-up of DJs curated by Voices Radio, each rocking ‘90s bangers that have been inspired by the cultural musical icons that played at Bagley’s and The Cross nightclubs. From 6pm till 9pm on each of the Thursday Lates nights.

Christmas trees

2023 will see a 50-foot traditional Christmas tree in Coal Drops Yard, which this year will be wrapped with 15,000 low-power lights – three times as many as the previous year. Liliane Lijn’s ‘Temenos’ installation will return in November to Lewis Cubitt Square. The immersive, 11-metre high geometric winter sculpture comprises 19 neon poles which gradually change colour from a beautiful golden yellow to a cool winter blue.

A brand new fun and festive art installation on Granary Square is set to be unveiled in the run up to Christmas. Keep an eye out for further details!

Club Curling will run from Thursday 9 November 2023 until the end of February 2024. First play begins at 12pm and last play at 8pm.
