Work on a new Lidl supermarket has now begun and will be located on the ground floor of the Arts Building on Morris Place, Finsbury Park.

Lidl GB is working with construction firm B Team to develop the store, which will create around 30 new jobs when opened. The fit-out works are expected to take four months, with a view to opening the store this Summer. The new store will feature a sales area of 917m² and will be significantly larger than the existing store in Finsbury Park, offering an even greater range of products to local residents.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Mike Devine, commented: “There’s been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it’s great that we are now in a position to start construction. This will mark our second store in Finsbury Park, and we can’t wait to start serving our high quality, affordable produce to more of the local area. We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the development.”

The new supermarket forms part of the company’s ongoing £1.3bn investment across the country in 2021 and 2022. Its ongoing success shows no signs of slowing, with the latest Kantar Worldpanel results highlighting Lidl’s increase in sales year on year and market share of 5.8%.
