Students and staff members at DLD College London are triumphant as they celebrate success and a duo of accolades in a prestigious, national creative competition.

Talented students studying Graphic Communications at the multi-award-winning school have been praised for their artistic talent after soaring to success in this year’s highly-anticipated Independent Schools’ Association (ISA) Comic Strip Competition. The gifted artists were invited to express their creativity to develop a storyboard or cartoon for the challenge, in line with the theme of Celebrating Diversity.

Open to key stages 1-5, the competition was tough as students from across the nation were encouraged to develop their own cartoon or comic strip as a means of exploring a topical subject. DLD College London student Zemfira N secured a coveted 2nd place prize, and Camille C was highly-commended for her final masterpiece.

Judge, Daniela Sosa congratulated the students, first highlighting Zemfira’s success and said: “This was a lot of work, well done Zemfira! Very good drawing skills and a good idea to use food to explain diversity.”

Speaking on Camille’s entry Daniela added: “This really is a complex comic strip and lots of work went into it, well done Camille. It’s original and has multiple layers and interpretations.”

DLD College London Principal, Irfan Latif commented: “It is always a pleasure to celebrate the achievements of our students as they reap the rewards of their hard work and dedication. We are very proud of Zemfira and Camille for their success in this respected national challenge, for which they have showcased remarkable creativity and talent.

“At DLD College London we believe education is about more than just grades – it is about nurturing new insights and creativity in the world. The philosophy of the Art and Design Department is to promote creativity as a vital part of society, and opportunities such as the ISA Comic Strip Competition enable us to enhance this outside of the classroom.”

DLD College London will be opening its doors to Year 9 students from September 2023, with a pioneering new curriculum central to the offering. To find out more, visit: www.dldcollege.co.uk/academic/college-courses/year9/
