DAME exposes toxic reality of tampons and pads in new campaign across London.

Contrary to common sense, fundamental logic, and a desire not to seep chemicals into our bodies through our vaginas, period products aren’t strictly regulated.

No tampon brand is required to disclose a full ingredient list. This means that tampons and pads are often full of hidden nasties, such as plastic, chlorine, pesticides, bleach and toxins. Which poses the question: Do you really want to put that up there? DAME doesn’t think so.

The pioneering period brand has just launched a new campaign, exposing the realities of what goes into your period products, and encouraging people to make the switch to organic and more sustainable period options. The campaign will appear over 400 different sites across London, providing plenty of opportunities to spot the posters around the city. DAME is renowned for bold advertising campaigns, and caused a bit of a stir with its ‘Bleed Red, Think Green’ campaign, which showed a tampon string on the side of a London bus for the first time .

When you buy any tampons from DAME, you can be safe in the knowledge that the product is made from 100% organic cotton. Nothing more, nothing less. DAME has even received reports of improved period symptoms from those who have switched to its organic tampons, with people reporting less intense cramps, less irritation, and a lighter, more manageable flow. One customer, Maria, who suffered from painful periods for over 30 years, reported that after using DAME’s organic tampons, her period pains have almost completely disappeared.

Celia Pool, DAME co-founder said, “On average, a tampon user will have a tampon inside of them for a cumulative 7.5 years over their lifetime. As the vagina is one of the most absorbent parts of the body, harsh chemicals in period products should be out of the question to keep everyone who menstruates as safe and comfortable as possible.”
